Something I’ve personally wanted to add to 5ft Shelf for a long time has been Facebook and Twitter integration. Today we’ve added that. Simply speaking, the activity updates you see in your news feed are pushed through to Twitter and/or Facebook when you add or remove a book/album/movie. The Twitter updates look this:

and the Facebook updates like:

To setup updates you can either visit your profile page and click the Twitter/Facebook tab, or, on the news feed page you will notice a link to setup Twitter and Facebook integration if you haven’t already. If at any point you wish to stop the updates you can do this on your profile page.
There’s been quite a few user requests for this feature so we’re looking forward to seeing how people use it. Please note at the moment the facebook integration only offers the ability to push your 5ft Shelf updates to facebook. It does not offer the ability to manage your shelf items from within facebook.

Nice!
Though I couldn’t see a way of signing up to 5ft shelf using just one of these? It looks like I have to sign up to 5ft shelf first then the others? I guess I was thinking the value of those points of integration is to avoid having to have yet another password…?
